Integration with CAD software

PDF files can be created from any type of software that supports printed output:
  • CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software
  • 3-dimensional rendering software
  • Desktop publishing programs
  • Word processing software
  • Raster image editors

Users of CAD applications will sometimes need to employ special setups in both their CAD software and the PDF printer driver in order to obtain good output.  Although some PDF creation utilities have been designed especially for CAD users, many are general-purpose tools that will require application-specific tuning.

With almost all of these non-CAD-specific drivers some setup is required to use large-format page sizes.
